Mark Sanborn has an extensive background in domestic policy, government relations, and
private & public sector project management. Prior to joining his current company, Mark served
as Assistant Commissioner of the NH Department of Environmental Services. His other previous
roles with the State of New Hampshire include serving as the Governor’s Energy Advisor at the
NH Office of Strategic Initiatives and the newly established NH Department of Energy and as
Federal Liaison for the NH Department of Transportation.
In addition to his service in NH state government, he has served in a number of capacities in the
federal government, including at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as the
Acting General Deputy Assistant Secretary & principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary for the
Office of Community Planning and Development, as Chief of Staff at the US Department of
Agriculture’s Rural Development, as Director of Governmental, International, and Public Affairs
for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration at the US Department of
Transportation, as Counselor to the Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy at USDOT.
Mark’s previous private sector experience is as Director of Government Relations for Concord
Coach Lines, a private sector bus company operating in Northern New England. He began his
public service career in New Hampshire congressional offices as a staff member for former US
Senator Bob Smith in Washington, DC and former US Congressman Charlie Bass in his district
office.
Mark is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire where he received a Bachelor of Arts
degree in political science with minors in history and philosophy.
